Transforming and enriching the lives of Veterans and First Responders suffering from PTSD.
About us
Integra Service Dogs Australia specialises in the sourcing, matching, placement, ongoing training and development of high quality Labrador trainee Service Dogs with Veterans and First Responders suffering from PTSD. Integra has been successfully operating since 2016. We are a national provider, delivering Assistance Dog services in most states and territories, and have efficiently matched and placed more than one hundred (100) high quality Labrador dogs with Veterans and First Responders. Our reclassified Labrador dogs have been sourced from our established partnerships with organisations such as: Guide Dogs Victoria, Australian Border Force Detection Dog Program, Seeing Eye Dogs Vision Australia and private registered breeders. The bond created through each team is life changing. Our Program teaches our dogs to become emotionally tuned to their Veteran or First Responder and their unique triggers. Our dogs are able to ground their handler from a hyper-aroused state and provide unconditional support through the trauma and stresses of everyday life. Integra is proud to have his Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d), the Governor-General of the Commonwealth of Australia and Mrs Linda Hurley as our Patrons. His Excellency and Mrs Hurley have been strong supporters of our work over the past three years and maintain a keen interest in the ongoing support we provide to Veterans and First Responders.

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week. We want to acknowledge the resilience and strength of individuals in our community who face mental illness, as well as those supporting loved ones through their struggles. We ask you this week to focus on your wellbeing. Whether it’s reaching out to someone, taking a walk, or simply giving yourself a positive affirmation. Remember, if you're struggling, don't hesitate to reach out. You're never alone. Please consider donating to Integra to help us raise awareness about PTSD and continue supporting those in our community who need it. https://lnkd.in/gNPwF-DE #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek #IntegraServiceDogsAustralia #Wellbeing #AssistanceDogs #Veterans #FirstResponders #Donate

It's time for new beginnings as our trainers team up with Guide Dogs Victoria to select our next group of young dogs for advanced training in Canberra. We're thrilled to follow the journey of our next cohort as they embark on their training adventures. A big thank you to the wonderful team at Guide Dogs Victoria for their dedication to these beautiful dogs. Special shoutout to their trainers and foster carers who provide love and coaching in the first few years of life. #IntegraServiceDogsAustralia #Wellbeing #AssistanceDogs #Veterans #FirstResponders #Donate

Acknowledging our Veteran Handlers and their Assistance Dogs - meet Karney and Ivy. In the midst of the Covid chaos in April 2020, Ivy found her way into Karney's life. Grounded planes led to an unexpected match between them, and Karney found herself blessed with the perfect life companion - Ivy, her Integra Assistance Dog. With her fiancé deployed in the Middle East Arabian Gulf, Ivy's presence became a beacon of solace amidst uncertainty. Ivy's uncanny ability to sense Karney's struggles, especially during the silent battles of the night, transformed their bond into a lifeline. Ivy's charm and compassion touches hearts universally, from veterans to tough SAS men, earning her a special place in everyone's affections. Together, Karney and Ivy embark on a remarkable journey filled with adventures. From gracing newspaper headlines to rubbing shoulders with dignitaries and sporting legends, Ivy's presence radiates joy and warmth wherever they go. When not working, Ivy's true happiness is in the simple pleasure of the doggy beach, where she delights in being a social butterfly. Looking ahead, Karney and Ivy were poised for new endeavors, with plans to champion causes close to their hearts. This included raising awareness for Assistance Dogs and advocating for better support systems for retired military and first responders and their working dogs. Their story stands as a testament to the profound bond between human and canine, woven with love, purpose, and a shared commitment to making the world a better place. #IntegraServiceDogsAustralia #Wellbeing #AssistanceDogs #Veterans #FirstResponders #Donate

Guide dogs help the visually impaired make their way through the world while offering love and comfort in so many ways. They provide opportunities for social connection and greater independence for blind adults. International Guide Dog Day pays tribute to the dogs who do this impressive work. We want to take a moment to acknowledge the life changing work that Vision Australia (Seeing Eye Dogs) and Guide Dogs Victoria do by providing guide dogs to Australians in need. We are so grateful to the dedicated trainers and foster parents who nurture and train these wonderful dogs for many years prior to placement - a real labour of love. 📸: Jessie Brown #IntegraServiceDogsAustralia #Wellbeing #AssistanceDogs #Veterans #FirstResponders #Donate

In the lead-up to Anzac Day, we take a moment to acknowledge the contribution of animals in service. The purple poppy is a symbol of remembrance for animals that served during wartime. It not only remembers animals lost in service but also pays tribute to those who serve today, working alongside the Emergency Services, in the Military, Prisons, and Border Forces.
